The former owner of Inter made 2 transfers worth more than 470 thousand euros each to a gang of scammers who contacted him on behalf of Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto. They convinced Moratti to pay ransom for non-existent journalists allegedly captured in the Middle East.
The Carabinieri of Milan`s investigative department and the prosecutor`s office discovered and froze an amount of almost 980 thousand euros in a Dutch account. On February 4, he was urgently arrested by the prosecutor`s office.
The investigation is looking into the actions of a criminal community, aggravated fraud and impersonation.
