Matthias Jaissle spoke about the development of football in Saudi Arabia. The former Hoffenheim defender has been in charge of Al Ahly since 2023.
- You worked in Europe, in Salzburg, before joining Al-Ahly. Would you say that working in the Saudi League is very different?
- Honestly, when you`re a coach, it doesn`t really matter. You are a coach, you must lead the team. . . we train the same way as in Europe. Obviously the circumstances are a little different. In this context, there are some additional problems: everything on our site is quite new, they [the Saudis] want to develop so that the championship progresses. And this is quite understandable.
I`ve been on our site for a year and a half now. All these transfers, the arrival of excellent coaches such as Pioli, Blanc, Jesus. . . There are top players and top coaches on our website. This is the approach, this is the vision of Saudi Arabia: the idea is to develop the championship, the sport in general. And this is understandable.
To be honest, it is difficult to compare it with championships predicted by today predictions such as the Bundesliga, Ligue 1. . . There are players, there is quality, but it takes time. But we are on the right track, " said Jaissle.
